Early Learning Options Expanded Through Community Partnership

Affiliation: Joint

Location: Joint Base San Antonio | San Antonio, TX

Partners: Joint Base San Antonio; Pre-K 4 SA; City of San Antonio

What They Did: Established a formal community partnership that gives eligible JBSA families access to Pre-K 4 SA's full-day early childhood education program as an alternative to installation child development centers. Military families receive priority enrollment during a designated application window.

Key Results: Military families receive a priority enrollment opportunity, and JBSA reports that the program has served nearly 2,000 military children.

Replication Takeaway: Partner with a high-quality municipal early learning system to create an off-installation alternative, reserve or prioritize spaces for military families, and connect the program directly to installation enrollment communications.
