The Alamagordo Thrive Guide provides resources for military families that are specific to the local community of Alamogordo, NM at Holloman AFB and White Sands Missile Range. Five and Thrive is an initiative that tackles the top five quality of life issues military families face, and you will find that the guide provides resources in each of these areas: childcare, education, healthcare, housing and spouse employment.
This guide is modeled after the original Thrive Guide from Five & Thrive, which was created for military families by military spouses as a comprehensive resource to support families at all levels.

A Letter from the City of Alamogordo Mayor
Dear Holloman Air Force Base Families,
On behalf of the City of Alamogordo, it is my honor to welcome you and your family to our community. We are deeply grateful for the service and sacrifice you make every day, and we are proud to stand alongside Holloman Air Force Base as partners in supporting the men and women who defend our nation.
Relocating to a new community can be both exciting and challenging. We understand that PCS moves often come with tight timelines and many questions about schools, housing, healthcare, childcare, and employment opportunities. That is exactly why this Five & Thrive Guide was created: to serve as a comprehensive resource that helps military families quickly find the information and connections they need to settle in and feel at home.
The Five & Thrive initiative focuses on five key pillars that are critical to the quality of life for military families: childcare, education, healthcare, affordable housing, and spousal employment. This guide brings those resources together in one place so that you can easily navigate our community and discover the many opportunities available here.
Alamogordo is more than just a place to live, it is a community that proudly embraces the military families who call it home. From our schools and local businesses to our parks, outdoor recreation, and community organizations, you will find a network of people committed to helping you thrive. Our city and Holloman Air Force Base share a long-standing partnership built on respect, collaboration, and a shared dedication to supporting service members and their loved ones.
Whether you are here for your first assignment or returning to the area, we hope you will quickly discover what makes Alamogordo special: a welcoming community, breathtaking natural beauty, and neighbors who truly care about one another.
Thank you for your service and for choosing to call Alamogordo home. We are honored to have you here.
Sharon McDonald
Mayor of the City of Alamogordo
Thank you for the supporters who helped build this Thrive Guide for our military families.
